Job Description

The prospective candidate will be supporting the overall systems engineering tasks for GDIT’s Project Director - Army Human Resource Services (PD AHRS) contract. Candidate will support the production environment of the Installation Support Modules (ISM) application. This mission critical application provides support functions for US Army Warfighters worldwide. Candidate must possess a strong technical background and be able to coordinate systems engineering principles with other technology areas such as network support, Service Desk, and Software Development.

Customer and Mission:

GDIT’s PD AHRS Contract supports the US Army PEO-EIS and multiple users to include: Army, National Guard, Marine Corps and Navy. Our current scope of the technical services and support we provide includes: project management, system engineering and integration, security engineering and integration, information assurance vulnerability analysis and integration, architecture design, system design, application design, system development, application development, integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software and hardware, testing, fielding and help desk support, change management, risk management, quality assurance, system/software enhancement/modernization analysis and implementation, capability maturity model support, documentation development, training support, hardware and software procurement, operation, maintenance, and engineering services.

Essential Functions of the Position:

As a Solaris/UNIX Sr. System Administrator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and document project plans for management and customer review

  • Participate in planning and execution of a future Data Center relocation

  • Occasional installation and removal of equipment

  • Recommend best practices for systems reliability, scalability, redundancy, and availability

  • Maintain interfaces with external systems

  • Implement and maintain SPLUNK

  • Perform weekly Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans

  • Perform monthly Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans

  • Perform periodic password resets, Web Logic restarts

  • Maintain proper security posture for Solaris systemsP

  • articipate in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system problems

  • Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance

  • Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility

  • Provide on-call/remote after-hours support to priority incidents

  • Monitor and maintain adequate backup and recovery of all Solaris systems

  • Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems

  • Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems

  • Set up administrator and service accounts

  • Maintain system documentation

  • Strong commitment to the team and the organization's success

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

  • Participate in special projects or tasks as required

  • The position requires shared on-call availability

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Solaris experience required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in systems administration and support
  • Comprehensive knowledge of related hardware and software

Desired Skills:

  • Certification or working knowledge in Host Based Security System (HBSS)
  • Knowledge of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) (system scanning tool)
  • Experience applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) is required for security compliance
  • Knowledge Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) for scanning the systems for vulnerabilities
  • Experience with Web Logic
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with peers and managemen
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills. Strong teamwork and engagement as a project team member
  • Ability to assimilate information rapidly, motivated to self study new requirements
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills
  • Capacity to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and incorporate these needs into technical solutions
  • Ability to work under time constraints

Certifications:

  • Must be DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II compliant and currently have the required certifications in good standing (i.e., Security+ CE and an additional certification in UNIX, Solaris, RedHat, A+, Network+, VMware, Windows, etc)

Citizenship: US Citizenship is required

Clearance: Minimum of Secret clearance in good standing is required

Work Location: Client Site, Arlington, VA
