The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for enhancing procedures for and the preparation, documentation and disbursement of the weekly payroll checks and payroll related interfaces. This person will also serve as the primary backup to the Payroll Supervisor with regard to the processing of the biweekly payroll. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
1. Verify that all associate action changes, bonuses, terminations, retro-pays, W-4 changes, direct deposits, wage orders, and housing benefits has been entered into the payroll system accurately and timely.
2. Develop, recommend, and implement process improvements when identified.
3. Verify that time records have been entered and imported into the payroll system accurately and timely.
4. Review monthly billings from third party payroll vendors to ensure accuracy.
5. Coordinate ancillary services, such as unemployment reporting, tax filing, and compliance reporting and wage garnishment, with third party payroll vendor.
6. Act as accounting liaison to ensure:
* that the weekly payroll has been reconciled
* That the weekly wage garnishments have been reconciled
* assist in the research of payroll issues with accounting
* assist cash manager in reconciling payroll bank account
* reviews outstanding check lists on a quarterly basis and notifies associates of such
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. High School diploma/equivalent (GED).
2. 5+ years of payroll/accounting experience including processing payroll using PeopleSoft (version 9.0 strongly preferred but knowledge of PeopleSoft is required).
3. Knowledge of state related payroll laws in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and West Coast desired.
4. Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.
5. Customer service knowledge and ability to deliver exceptional customer service as demonstrated by prior work experience.
6. Experience with Kronos is preferred.
