Description
Level: Sr. Associate
Role Description: The Regulatory Reporting team executes and delivers external financial reporting to the regulators which Capital One is subject to, including the Federal Reserve Board, OCC and FDIC. Compliance with the regulatory reporting requirements is critical to Capital One's business, and the Regulatory Reporting team interacts with associates at various levels across the company to generate the required regulatory reports and ensure that the reporting requirements are met. The subject matter of the external reporting encompasses all aspects of the company's business including loans, deposits, funding, investments, and capital calculations, as well as domestic and foreign operations. The reporting deliverables are concentrated around quarter-end timeframes.
Business Partners: Accounting, Treasury, Bank Finance, Financial Data Management, Regulatory Compliance, Balance Sheet Planning
Responsibilities:
- Apply general knowledge of financial statements, accounting concepts, and research skills to prepare the regulatory reports.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and/or quarterly financial reporting for the various regulatory agencies, including preparation and/or review of supporting workpapers.
- Generate general ledger information and source system reports from loan, deposit, treasury and other systems are used to prepare the regulatory reports.
- Participate in regulatory initiatives, such as assessing new rules and regulations, interpreting and implementing regulatory guidance.
- Interact with associates company-wide to facilitate the reporting process.
- Participate in corporate initiatives and projects impacting regulatory reporting, such as system conversions, acquisition integration, and Basel II.
- Respond to requests from other departments and perform research to answer questions.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and/or financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance
- CPA
- Prior regulatory reporting or accounting experience at financial institution
- Prior public accounting experience
- Prior external financial reporting experience
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- General financial system knowledge, with particular emphasis on PeopleSoft general ledger, Excel and other MS Office software
