Job Description

Piedmont Virginia Community College is searching for a full-time nursing faculty member. The successful candidate will have a strong pediatric nursing background and be proficient in medical-surgical nursing. A Master's degree in nursing is required. Preference will be given to PhD prepared candidates and candidates with prior community college teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing; Clinical experience in pediatric nursing; Valid license to practice nursing in Virginia; Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy, students, and teaching in a community college; Commitment to academic advisement of students, Evidence of on-going professional development to assure currency in field; Ability to teach during the day, evening and weekend hours and travel to locations within Central Virginia, to work in long-term, acute and community care environments, to
use current and emerging instructional technologies and distance learning technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical expertise in additional areas of nursing, specifically medical surgical nursing; Experience using current electronic instructional technologies (e.g., multimedia, Internet);
Experience developing and teaching in distance learning technologies; Experience developing courses/curriculum;
Experience securing external financial and/or physical resources (e.g., grant writing, equipment); Experience with adult education in an academic setting; Experience with simulation instruction
