This position is located in the Deployment Health, Director of Branch Health Clinics, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth. The incument will be primarily assigned to Branch Health Clinic, Dam Neck or Norfolk, however assignments may be made to other Deployment Health clinical sites where services are required in the interest of quality patient care or staffing demands. The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of medical and clerical support duties which facilitates the work of providers and professional nurse.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

* Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
* Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
* Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
DUTIES:
Perform initial screening of patients.
Provide patient support (physical, emotional) as necessary.
Supports front desk functions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have 6 months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have 6 months of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience preparing patients for, and assist providers with, patient exams/procedures.
* Experience contacting patients regarding appointments.
* Experience collecting laboratory specimens and performing basic lab tests on the premises.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Applicants may substitute 2 years successfully completed education above high school level that include at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Best Qualified- Candidates in this category possess exceptional skills and experience to exceed well above the minimum requirements for announced position.
Highly Qualified-Candidates in this category possess good skills and experience above the minimum requirements for announced position.
Qualified- Candidates in this category meet the minimum experience requirements for announced position.
