Description
Capital One is seeking a Director, of Marketing Research in the brand department. This role will include the following:
Plan and develop the research agenda for a particular business unit or units. Lead development and management of annual learning agenda. Consult with and influence P&L business partners on how best to allocate resources to close information gaps that are obstacles to achieving business performance. Recommend what types of research to do when given current business conditions, then work with research managers and vendor partners to deliver research insights. Manage and develop team of research managers and analysts. Participate in defining standards and practices across research department working with other research directors. Work with the brand strategy teams to identify how research can clarify and support business strategies, identify techniques to answer key questions, execute research using internal and external recourses, and communicate the findings to brand team and client.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with internal clients on research needs. Plan and design research accordingly
- Lead internal teams and external vendors in executing research, partner with peers, managers and leaders of the Brand Strategy group to collaborate on key initiatives and leverage best practices in marketing research and strategy development
- Develop impactful insights that drive strategy and decision making, including leveraging and integrating primary research, multiple studies, secondary sources, and competitive intelligence
- Be well managed by controlling budgets, implementing governance processes, conforming to IRP policies and other laws
- Present market insights to business partners and stakeholders that drive business actions
- Manage up to 3 people
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- 10+ Years of experience in Marketing research management at a Fortune 500 company or supplier
- 10+ Years of experience in Qualitative market research
- 5+ years of experience in Writing and presentations, including presenting and defending research plans, recommendations and conclusions based on research findings, analysis, and insights
- 5+ years of experience in Planning, execution, and analysis of market research across a wide range of survey techniques with knowledge of sampling and statistical survey analysis and experience with advanced research methods
- 5+ years of experience in leading internal and vendor teams in executing large scale research and analytic projects, as well as managing multiple in-process studies simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in marketing, economics, statistics, business, computer science, engineering, sociology or psychology
- Masters Degree in marketing, economics, statistics, business, computer science/engineering, sociology or psychology
- 10+ Years of experience in Marketing research management at a Fortune 500 company or supplier
- 10+ Years of experience in Qualitative market research and a deep understanding of the principles that make up good research
