Description
Level: Director
Job Purpose
To provide direction and leadership to the Mainframe group within ITO. This position requires the person to not only act as the team leader for the Mainframe groups, but to also act as the technical lead for a robust Transaction Server and DB2 environment. This position will be responsible for service delivery management and oversight of our sourcing providers.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervise members of the Mainframe technical team . This group may install, maintains and supports all of the system level software running on the mainframe computer system.
2. Manage service delivery and provide oversight of sourcing vendors.
3. Develop the strategic direction for the installation of all mainframe software products including Operating System upgrades.
4. Manage the installation and ongoing support for all mainframe IBM and ASV products.
5. Oversee daily monitoring/health checks.
6. Oversee daily MVS problem resolution and performance tuning.
7. Assist in the planning for and participate in semi-annual disaster recovery tests.
8. Develop reports for management .
9. Receives direction for tasks from management.
10. Documents the technical environment for all owned software products.
11. Recommends direction within the area of primary responsibility.
12. Manages, tracks, augments, and modifies the performance and tuning aspects of software products within the area of primary responsibility.
13. Provides technical guidance, and training where necessary, to other Technical Support Services and Information Systems staff.
14. Provides backup to another area within Technical Support Services when required.
15. Participates in a revolving On-Call schedule.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
1. A minimum of five - tem years of IBM Mainframe operational and/or systems experience.
2. Experience with Network products (VTAM, Netview,TCP/IP), in general is preferred but not required.
3. An advanced knowledge of problem solving tools and techniques, and the ability to perform and collect data required to solve complex system and component problems.
4. A working knowledge of Disaster Recovery processes and philosophy.
