Capital One is seeking a Director, Brand specific segments and to drive it through to results. As a Brand Strategist this individual will generate powerful value propositions, translate those value propositions into killer marketing plans, and achieve business results through influence and persuasion grounded in analysis. The Director, Brand will work with a cross-functional team to gain a solid understanding of market forces and consumer needs, develop and test new concepts, and build support for them through formal and informal channels. Strong relationships and ongoing communication with senior executives will be critical to achieving results.
The ideal candidate will thrive on serving in a consultative role, where outcomes are achieved by generating ideas and creatively selling them to key advocates and team members resulting in successful rollout, smooth management, and continual improvement. The Director, Brand will balance creativity with analysis, be collaborative yet personally accountable, and balance discipline with flexibility. Direct Responsibilities:
- Own the lifecycle strategy for segment
- Drive product development, marketing strategy, and communications for major launches and tests to produce business results
- Develop a pipeline of consumer-oriented value propositions from start to finish --including idea generation, analysis and insight generation, product development, brand strategy, and go-to-market communications strategy
- Lead integrated, multi-channel marketing communications efforts that drive business results and reflect COF brand standards and personality.
- Oversee creative marketing process, including day-to-day management of vendors and budget
- Manage portfolio of marketing communications tracked to in-market performance.
- Define the customer experience and ensure that it meets the needs of our targets and lives up to our Brand promise
- Manage a team of 3-5 direct reports
- Assess effectiveness of marketing initiatives and investments; influence investment decision makers with formal recommendations and informal networking.
Enabling Responsibilities
- Keep abreast of market forces and trends to identify potential challenges and opportunities in the short and long term
- Work closely with market research team on customer, competitive, and industry tracking as it relates to marketing strategy; Use research tools to guide idea or concept evolution, and ensure that market research derives actionable insights
- In addition to a team of direct reports, lead cross-functional teams and manage input from stakeholders, including Marketing & Analysis (P&L owners), Creative Development, Operations, Legal etc.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- 10+ years of experience in Brand management in consumer products/services
- 10+ years of experience in various Marketing communication channels: print, internet, broadcast media.
- 5+ years of experience in Financial services industry, financial services products.
- 5+ years of experience in Supervisory and team leading
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Marketing or Quantitative analysis
- 10+ years corporate marketing, agency and/or marketing consulting experience, preferably in financial services or brand-driven industries such as consumer packaged goods
