This Automotive Worker position is located at the Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA. The primary purpose of this position is to provide automotive repair type services on equipment located at the cemetery.

DUTIES:

The Automotive Worker performs routine maintenance and servicing on a variety of motor vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment (both gasoline and diesel powered). Performs scheduled maintenance on all equipment periodically, i.e.: lubricating, changing oil, checking levels of gear lube in transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, etc.

The incumbent establishes and maintains controls necessary to deadline equipment for routine, periodic maintenance and inspection and servicing, taking care not to impair cemetery operations by equipment outages.

The incumbent is also responsible for establishing controls to insure checkout and accountability of tools, equipment and operability and cleanliness of same after use at the end of each workday. Maintains records and logs for reporting purposes.

The incumbent may be called upon to assist in grounds maintenance or interment functions of the cemetery's operation by performing the duties of a cemetery caretaker.

* Work Schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Your background must demonstrate knowledge and experience working with automotive and engineering equipment to correctly perform all minor repairs and preventative maintenance. Incumbent is required to have knowledge of parts and installation. Must be able to read and use blueprints and technical publications.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Heavy effort is required in the occasional handling of equipment attachments, grave markers, bags of fertilizer, placement of portable roadbed, etc. Considerable and repetitive strain and vibration is experienced in the operaiton and movement of equipment over rough and uneven surfaces. Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, pushing, and lifting are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The incumbent is required to operate equipment and perform other tasks in all types of weather and environmental extremes of heat, cold, wind, humidity, dust, dirt, fumes, vibration and noise.

A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.
